How we work

Wind Prospect is an environmentally and ethically driven organisation; and as such we are always mindful of minimising the potential negative impacts of our projects on the local environment and local community. This is a constant balancing act that involves working with local communities and project stakeholders and striving to increase the proportion of renewable energy deployed globally to meet applicable renewable energy targets.

Working with the Environment

  • Where appropriate, the impact on local bird populations is monitored during the operation of a wind farm project, which allows comparisons between the presence and behaviour of species before, during and after construction of the wind farm.
  • Where appropriate, habitat enhancement schemes can be implemented whereby land is set aside to encourage species into the area thereby offsetting any potential impacts of the wind farm.

Working with the Community

  • A Community Funds is established for each wind farm project to support the local community.  These funds are often used for kids' activities, to support local events, and for the building of new community facilities.
  • Wind farms have a positive effect on the local economy through increased demand for local goods and services during the feasibility, construction and operational phases of development.
  • The creation of temporary employment during the construction phase of a wind farm development provides and opportunity for those employed to develop new skills and experience that could lead to specialist long term employment in the renewable energy sector.

Working with Stakeholders

  • Our ongoing communication and consultation is the key characteristic that defines our successful partnerships with landowners, manufacturers, private organisations, and energy suppliers.
